Reports to: President

Soundside Partners is seeking a part-time Advisor – 2D Materials & Devices to support the development of next-generation device technologies based on 2D materials. The Advisor will provide technical leadership for the growth, characterization, fabrication, and demonstration of prototype devices in collaboration with Soundside clients and partner organizations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support development of CVD/MOCVD growth processes for 2D materials and heterostructures

  • Guide integration of dielectric and insulating layers using ALD or related techniques

  • Develop characterization plans and interpret structural, electrical, optical, and materials data

  • Assist with device design, fabrication, testing, and performance optimization

  • Collaborate with university, national laboratory, and commercial partners

  • Contribute to technical proposals, publications, and intellectual property development

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

  • Recognized expertise in 2D materials, growth, semiconductor device physics, and/or advanced transistor technologies

  • Experience with CVD/MOCVD growth, ALD dielectrics, semiconductor processing, and device characterization

  • Prior experience working with research collaborations and government-funded R&D programs is desirable

 

Work Location

This is a part-time, independent contractor role (5-10 hours/week) with flexible schedule. The Advisor may work remotely from any suitable location with adequate connectivity and airport access. Occasional travel will be required for client meetings, conferences, or business development activities.
