How We Help

Services
Our team provides consulting and advisory services to both public and private sector organizations across a broad range of markets, technologies, and disciplines. The areas shown below provide an overview, but please contact us to discuss specific needs.

Strategy
The semiconductor industry is simultaneously one of the most complex and fast-moving industries in the world. Our team leverages decades of global experience to help create and implement forward-thinking growth strategies, assess collaborations and partnerships, or support pre/post M&A activities.
Technology
The Soundside team is deeply technical, with expertise spanning from silicon to compound semiconductors, from digital to analog to photonics, and across all relevant FEOL and BEOL processes. We offer technical scouting and due diligence, process transfer support, R&D and product roadmapping, IP analysis, and expert witness services, among others. We are well-versed in assessing a technology portfolio and conceiving new directions and/or addressable markets.

Product & Business
Development
Working alongside and augmenting the teams of our client organizations, Soundside supports the end-to-end product development cycle. This includes market analysis, competitive assessment, product definition and product/market fit, cost modeling, product development and qualification, and business development. A structured product development framework, developed by Soundside personnel, is available to document the process from concept to revenue.
Operations
Foundries can be an enabling solution, allowing semiconductor companies to avoid significant capital outlay and focus solely on product design. But foundries must be carefully selected and must also be diligently managed. Our team has worked in fabs, built fabs, and managed fabs. We understand semiconductor fabrication and what it takes to achieve a healthy foundry/customer relationship. We lead and/or support external foundry relationships on behalf of our clients. We can also support outsourcing and/or reshoring initiatives and the associated qualifications. We have also assisted clients with equipment demos, equipment selection, and process yield enhancement.

Sales & Marketing
Sales cycles and processes can vary across different industry sectors and different parts of the world. Soundside understands these nuances and can help create sales & pricing strategies tailored to all relevant commercial considerations. Soundside can also assist with customer engagement, marketing strategy & campaign design, external communications, and corporate branding.
Talent & Training
Our approach to talent is multi-faceted. Soundside can augment an organization’s capabilities in a consulting or advisory capacity over the short, medium, or long term. But we also focus on training and development, executive coaching, organizational design, and recruiting, all of which are tailored to strengthen our clients’ talent pool. Training topics span from materials and device technologies to key account management and global expansion strategies, among many others. Given our vast network across the semiconductor industry, we offer placement services and are often able to recruit candidates for our clients’ most difficult and specialized roles.

Investment Support

Engagement Models
Soundside offers multiple engagement models that can be tailored to meet any organizational need.
Consulting
Most often project-based and intended to address a specific problem or need
Typical duration:
Weeks to months
Examples:
• Assess an opportunity
• Train/upskill a team
• Optimize a process
• Make vs. buy decision
Advisory
Advisory engagements represent the majority of Soundside work. These allow our team to work closely and in partnership with client leadership to advance long-term initiatives
Typical duration:
3+ months
Examples:
• Create a strategic plan
• Transfer a technology
• Develop a new product
• Establish new operations
Fractional Executive
The fractional executive model provides organizations with expert guidance and seasoned leadership without full-time expense. This can be particularly useful for early-stage companies or those in transitional phases.
Typical duration:
6+ months
Examples:
• Fill leadership gaps
• Create a new business
• Corporate reset
Permanant Placement
Sometimes, a full-time employee is needed. In such cases, Soundside uses its extensive network and industry reach to source candidates for specialty or hard-to-place roles. To avoid the potential slowdown of hiring and onboarding to company schedules and milestones, recruitment can take place in parallel with advisory or fractional executive engagements to provide seamless organizational continuity
