Title: Advisor – Cybersecurity & Information Controls

Reports to: President

Type: Part-time, independent contractor

Location: Virtual

 

Soundside Partners is seeking a part-time Advisor – Cybersecurity & Information Controls to support confidential compliance, data governance, and information control engagements for clients in advanced technology and semiconductor-related industries. The Advisor will provide technical leadership for review of information access controls, identity and access management, network segmentation, firewall rules, data segregation, and related IT control environments.

 

This role is intended for an experienced cybersecurity, IT controls, IAM, or infrastructure professional who can assess whether appropriate systems, processes, and controls are in place to protect sensitive information, restrict access, and support disciplined business operations. The role will work closely with compliance analysts and other Soundside advisors.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for review of data access, IAM, firewall, and information control processes

  • Review network segmentation, firewall rules, access control lists, VPN access, remote access, and related boundary controls

  • Evaluate data segregation, customer data protection, sensitive information handling, and access restrictions across relevant systems

  • Assess policies, procedures, workflows, and system configurations relevant to data protection and information firewalls

  • Identify control gaps, implementation risks, remediation needs, and areas requiring further testing or review

  • Support client-facing reports and technical summaries

 

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience in cybersecurity, IT controls, IAM, network security, and data protection

  • Deep understanding of identity and access management, privileged access management, firewall architecture, network segmentation, logging, and control testing

  • Ability to evaluate both technical configurations and the operating effectiveness of related business processes

  • Strong documentation skills and ability to explain technical issues clearly to legal, compliance, executive, and technical audiences

  • Ability to work independently in a virtual, fast-moving, consulting environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing technical controls in semiconductor, manufacturing, defense, or regulated environments

  • Experience supporting audits and compliance assessments

 

Work Location

This is a part-time, independent contractor role (5-15 hrs/wk) with a flexible schedule. Workload is expected to vary based on client activity, with higher time requirements during review periods, site visits, or issue escalations. The Advisor may work remotely from any suitable location with adequate connectivity and airport access. Occasional domestic travel may be required for site visits or other engagement-related activities.
