Soundside Partners is seeking a part-time technical Advisor – WBG Power Electronics to support wide bandgap (WBG) and ultrawide bandgap (UWBG) power electronics programs including technical reviews, roadmap development, market and technology assessments, and industry engagement activities. The Advisor will support Soundside’s work with prime contractors, federal sponsors, universities, national laboratories, and other stakeholders to advance domestic power electronics technology and manufacturing objectives.

Core Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for WBG/UWBG power electronics programs, with emphasis on GaN and SiC technologies

Contribute to technical reports, market assessments, technology evaluations, roadmap materials, briefing decks, and stakeholder communications

Support development and refinement of power electronics strategic frameworks, technical roadmaps, workforce development strategies, and program impact metrics

Review technical proposals, concept papers, calls for proposals, and program deliverables for technical merit, feasibility, relevance, and alignment with program objectives

Support planning, documentation, and facilitation of technical workshops, stakeholder meetings, site visits, and high-level briefings

Help translate complex technical and programmatic information into briefing materials, talking points, summaries, and other communication products

Work closely with the Soundside President, other advisors, prime contractor personnel, and external stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and national laboratories
Required Qualifications

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field

Recognized expertise in WBG power electronics, particularly GaN and/or SiC materials, devices, processing, packaging, reliability, manufacturing, and applications

Strong understanding of power electronics applications, including grid, transportation, industrial, defense, aerospace, data center, or other high-impact sectors

Ability to assess technical progress, identify barriers to commercialization, evaluate manufacturing and supply chain constraints, and develop actionable recommendations

Strong writing and communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports, executive briefings, proposal reviews, workshop summaries, and stakeholder-facing materials
Work Location
This is a part-time, independent contractor role (est. 4-8 hrs/wk) with flexible schedule. The Advisor may work remotely from any suitable location with adequate connectivity. Occasional domestic travel may be required for client meetings, workshops, site visits, conferences, or other program-related activities.
