Steve Kosier

Steve Kosier brings three decades of semiconductor leadership and technical expertise to Soundside Partners, with experience spanning foundry operations, device and process R&D, technology roadmaps, strategic partnerships, commercialization, and executive leadership.

He is a Research Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University and Associate Director for Business Development at the Institute for Space and Defense Electronics, where his work focuses on radiation effects in microelectronics, wide-bandgap power devices, and the use of commercial technologies in radiation environments.

Previously, Steve served as Chief Technology Officer at SkyWater Technology, where he helped shape technology roadmaps, strategic alliances, and IP strategy across a differentiated U.S. technology foundry platform. Earlier in his career, he was a founding member of the PolarFab and Polar Semiconductor wafer foundries, where he helped develop and transfer analog, mixed-signal, and high-voltage technologies into volume production for automotive and industrial markets. He also served as President of Kanomax FMT, a nanoparticle measurement instrumentation business.

Steve supports Soundside clients at the intersection of technology, market strategy, and execution. He helps organizations evaluate technical claims, assess manufacturability and commercial readiness, sharpen product and partnership strategies, and turn complex semiconductor opportunities into clear, decision-ready paths. He earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
